Successful implementation of large projects starts with ideas and confidence.

In today’s world, where challenges and needs are constantly growing, social service is proving to be a key element in the life of many communities. A particularly important component of this service is not only the desire to help, but also the ability to join forces and work as a whole. And this principle is not only adhered to, but also actively developed and transformed into real projects and initiatives.

Recently, we held two days of intensive training for parishes that are actively learning and implementing their social projects. The first day of training at the School of Social Ministry was dedicated to the topic “Going. Activity. Plan.” Under the guidance of Alina Mykhaliuk, a representative of the Catholic Education NGO, the participants had the opportunity not only to develop their creativity but also to learn techniques for generating ideas and creating specific action plans.

“Everything Starts with an Idea” – the first step is to understand what an idea is and how to distinguish between holistic and thoughtful ideas and mere thoughts. The focus on developing creative thinking allowed participants to understand that their imagination and inspiration can be turned into reality. The techniques used during the training proved to be important tools in this process.

“Event Management Technology” – the second block was dedicated to teaching practical skills in event management. Participants studied various aspects from camps to charity events. Group work on different types of events helped to establish a cause-and-effect relationship between problems, needs, and events, which is important for the successful implementation of projects.

“Practical Plan – Parish Roadmap” – The last block was aimed at developing practical action plans for 3-6 months. Each group created its own roadmap, where participants could discuss their ideas and plans with others. Intensive training and practical exercises gave the participants not only knowledge but also confidence in their abilities. The reflection at the end of the day allowed participants to analyse their achievements and understand the opportunities for further development.

The second day began with a creative workshop on painting Easter eggs, where the participants practically implemented their ideas. Afterwards, everyone walked the Way of the Cross together in the Krekhiv Monastery of St Nicholas. This day was not only a continuation of learning and project work, but also a spiritual immersion in community and support for each other.

These two days of intensive training and joint activities were a vivid example of how teamwork and interaction can lead to successful and meaningful results in social service. Every step, from the idea to the joint prayer, confirms that true strength lies in the joint effort and belief in a common goal.

The School of Social Ministry was implemented as part of the UGCC Social Ministry project with the support of Renovabis and CNEWA Canada.
